The laws relating to alcohol

Drinking and driving:

It's against the law for an adult to drive with more than 80mg (milligrams) alcohol per 100ml (millilitres) of their blood. Because this can't be measured by the number of drinks, people who are planning to drive should avoid drinking alcohol beforehand. Someone who breaks the law could be facing a fine of £5000, six months in prison and having their licence taken away for at least a year. If a driver kills someone through drink-driving, they can face 14 years in prison followed by a two-year driving ban.
