Talk about alcohol

Parents

What if...?

What do you say?

You could start by praising your daughter for not being involved and for telling you about it. Try to put your fear or anger on hold and focus on the fact that she kept out of danger and handled the situation to the best of her ability.

It's a good opportunity to emphasise why young people and drinking alcohol don't mix, and to remind her what the law says. You could go through what happens when someone has too much to drink so that your daughter understands the consequences. You could also discuss what she would do if something similar happened again (e.g. calling an ambulance for the girl who passed out, calling you to pick her up, avoiding these friends in the future).
